This marks the 23rd year of UW bass Professor Richard Davis’ Foundation for Young Bassists. As part of the Foundation’s two-day conference for young bassists age 3-18, the Foundation will be presenting two public concerts, featuring the double bass in a variety of different contexts. Friday’s concert will feature the Foundation’s teaching faculty, among which are: Peter Dominguez, David Murray, Rufus Reid, Richard Davis, Donovan Stokes, Andy Raciti, Diana Gannett, Ben Ferris, Virginia Dixon, Robin Kesselman, Inez Wyrick, John Kennedy and Philip Alejo. Saturday, the concert will feature the talent of the conference participants – 30 young bassists from across the United States. Both concerts are free and open to the public, but donations will be gladly accepted for the Richard Davis Foundation scholarship fund. Both concerts are at 7:00 PM, Mills Concert Hall, UW Humanities Building.
