For this special occasion, UW Jazz Studies Director Johannes Wallmann welcomes members of the public to observe award-winning author Maxine Gordon’s presentation to, and discussion with, the School of Music’s jazz area students in their weekly masterclass.  This event is part of Ms. Gordon’s week-long Madison residency that is co-sponsored by the Greater Madison Jazz Consortium, the Mead Witter School of Music, the UW Afro-American Studies Department, and the Wisconsin Book Festival, on the occasion of the publication of her new book, “Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon.”
