10/1: (TELEVISION) “NEVER TOO LATE: THE DOC SEVERINSEN STORY.”  This documentary from the PBS “American Masters” series traces the life and career of the musical icon, trumpeter Doc Severinsen, revealing his personal trials and underscoring a remarkable journey of inspiration and obsession. The film features original interviews with friends, colleagues and famous fans like current Tonight Show bandleader Questlove and master trumpeters Chris Botti and Arturo Sandoval, along with archival and vibrant new concert footage and clips from Doc’s decades as Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show bandleader.  At age 94, and based in Mexico, Doc continues to tour with guitarist Gil Gutierrez in their band, The San Miguel Five, performing a mix of Latin and Gypsy jazz and standards, while touring with his own Big Band and performing with symphony orchestras all over the country. 11:00 PM, Wisconsin Public TV (WIS Channel).
