4/30: TELEVISION: INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. This two-hour retrospective captures performances from the culminating All-Star Global Concert from each of the past ten International Jazz Day celebrations, with collaborations between artists representing over 30 nations at venues in Istanbul, Osaka, Paris, the White House, Havana, St. Petersburg, New Orleans, Melbourne, and New York City. Highlights include Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride and Danilo Pérez swinging through “St. James Infirmary,” a searing take on “I Put a Spell on You” by Herbie Hancock and Annie Lennox, a duet performance of “Midnight Sun” by Stevie Wonder and Esperanza Spalding, Al Jarreau’s take on Paul Desmond’s “Take 5,” Hugh Masekela (with Marcus Miller, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Lee Ritenour) invoking South Africa’s freedom struggle in their performance of “Bring Him Back Home (Nelson Mandela),” and Aretha Franklin’s version of Leon Russell’s “A Song For You.” 8:00pm, PBS-Wisconsin.
