Piansit-saxophonist and ex-Madisonian Steve Nelson-Raney is the featured guest at Hanah Jon Taylor’s weekly “Night of the Improviser” series. A retired Senior Lecturer at UW-Milwaukee’s Music Department (1991-2011), is one of the original members of the musical improvisation trio Audiotrope, and is a member of the free jazz trio Dreamtime and the world music trio, Taqsim. Nelson-Raney is equally at home performing the jazz, contemporary classical, and free improvisation idioms. For this concert, he’ll be joined by along with bassist Sam Olsen and drummer Nick Zielinski. 8:00pm, Café CODA, 1224 Williamson Street. $10 at the door.
