From 1997-2005, saxophonist Ryan Meisel made Madison his home. After a brief excursion to grad school at Northern Illinois University, establishing his own music program at Erin School in Hartford, and becoming a fixture in the Milwaukee Jazz scene, Ryan is again making his presence known in Mad town.
Ryan is bringing his high octane saxophone improvisational style to Cafe CODA as he features his original compositions drawing inspiration from the history of jazz from Swing to bebop, and blues to the Avant-garde! Ryan’s QuArtet features Doug Brown on Guitar, Matt Rodgers on Bass and Jake Polancich on Drums.
For this concert, Ryan reunites with Madison-based vocalist Susan Hofer delving into tunes that were written while they worked together in the Ryan Meisel Quintet, and featuring some of Susan’s stylings on songs by Cole Porter, Billy Strayhorn, and Duke Ellington.
