due to the erratic (at best) weather forecast for this weekend, the MJS Board of Directors has decided to cancel the concert scheduled for this Sunday, February 24, featuring the New Century Dance Orchestra.  The Board has been “going back and forth” about this decision all week but, in the interests of the safety of our audience, we decided to cancel.  We believe that most of you agree with this decision since some expressed concerns about coming to the event.   We will hire the band to appear at an MJS event later this year.

  Based in Fond du Lac, the NCDO recreates the jazzy dance band sounds from the roaring twenties into the swing style of the 1930s at the second concert of the Madison Jazz Society’s year-long 35th anniversary celebration. The ten-piece band is reminiscent of the Paul Whiteman Orchestra and the earliest music of Duke Ellington.
