MADISON JAZZ FESTIVAL-MARQUES CARROLL QUINTET.  Chicago trumpeter Marques Carroll has spent the last three years cultivating two albums centered on stories and people, The Ancestors’ Call and Foundations, both of which will be featured.  The Ancestors’ Call connects deeply with his ancestors of African lineage and serves as a remembrance of their strength and wisdom as a foundation for life. Foundations pays tribute to the family and mentors that have been Carroll’s support network in his life as an artist, educator, and man.  The quintet includes Marques Carroll, trumpet; Sam Jewell, drums; Christian Dillingham, bass; Julius Tucker, piano and Brent Griffin, alto.  Café CODA, 1224 Williamson St.  8pm.  Tickets $20 advance/$25 at the door.
