For the final concert in the Spring 2019 InDIGenous JAZZ season, the versatile vocalist – guitarist Lo Marie will perform original music focusing on material from her upcoming album La Rêve, a celebration of creativity and expression. Marie’s aesthetic encompasses jazz harmonic constructs, urban grooves, soulful guitar passages, and the expressivity of the jazz and neo-soul vocal traditions. In 2018 Marie won Madison Area Music Awards for “Best Female Vocalist,” “Best Jazz Performer” and “Cover Song of the Year” for her duet, “I’ve Got a Crush on You” with the guitarist Cliff Fredriksen.

Accompanying Lo Marie at tonight’s concert will be Doug Brown- guitar; Andrew Traverse- keys; Conrad St. Clair- bass; and Joey Banks- drums.

Produced by the Madison Music Collective, with grant support from the Greater Madison Jazz Consortium, the Wisconsin Arts Board, and Dane Arts with additional funds from the Endres Mfg. Company Foundation, the Evjue Foundation (charitable arm of The Capital Times), the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation, and the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation.
