Dave Rempis & Quartet

Chicago-based saxophonist Dave Rempis is a journeyman improviser and organizer in the world of improvised music. Some of his current working bands include the Rempis Percussion Quartet, Kuzu, Ballister, and Rempis/Abrams/Ra + Baker, all of which tour nationally and internationally. Rempis is also the curator of the long-standing Improvised Music Series at Elastic Arts in Chicago and runs Aerophonic Records, which he founded in 2013. Tonight he debuts a brand a new quartet configuration featuring world-renowned trumpeter Russ Johnson, up-and-coming bassist Jakob Heinemann, and drummer/composer/bandleader Jeremy Cunningham on drums. Although all four of these musicians have worked together in various configurations, this will be their first outing as a quartet.
