Cornet Chop Suey

CORNET CHOP SUEY.  The St. Louis group has enjoyed a rapid rise and long tenure since 2001 when they performed for the first time at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. Named after an obscure Louis Armstrong composition, the six piece band plays traditional jazz to bop, as well as pop tunes. The front line includes Brian Casserly, trumpet; Jerry Epperson, reeds and Brett Stamps on trombone.  The powerful rhythm section includes Rick Zelle, piano; Jay Hungerford, bass and John Gillick on drums.  Presented by the Madison Jazz Society.  Funk’s Pub, 5956 Executive Dr., Fitchburg.  12pm.  Admission $15 members/$20 general/under 18 free.
