8/12: ANDY NARELL & BEN SIDRAN. Internationally acclaimed steel pannist Andy Narell is known for improvisational fluency on the steel pan, soaring compositions, and for being the first foreigner to compose for “Panorama,” the annual steel band competition in Trinidad and Tobago where the steel pan originated. Iconic Madison-based pianist-vocalist Ben Sidran found his early breaks in the American rock scene, most notably with the Steve Miller Band. For the past 50+ years, Sidran has been dedicated to the pursuit of jazz as a performer, educator, radio broadcaster, writer, producer, and composer. Presented by Arts + Literature Laboratory, the Madison Music Collective, and Panchromatic Steel. Arts+Literature Laboratory, 111 S. Livingston St. 7:30pm.
