After performing to a sold-out house at the downtown Café CODA’s grand opening, Chicago’s “Jazz Vocalist of the Year” (and NPR Friday night jazz show host) Dee Alexander returns to Madison to deliver her unique mix of soft, sultry ballads and contemporary Jazz-Funk grooves. Whether high flying swing or a scat-filled romp, Ms. Alexander presents each style with a passion and love of music that comes across in each and every note, complimented with a style and grace that is truly her own. Dee will perform with three of Chicago’s top rhythm players: Junius Paul (bass), Ernie Adams (percussion), and Miguel de la Cerna (piano). Café CODA, 1224 Williamson St. There will be two sets, 8-11pm. Tickets $25.
