Nov. 18th, 2016 – UW Latin Jazz and Blue Note Ensembles, at Tandem Press

This concert, by two UW student ensembles, could well be the start of your busy Friday evening jazz triple-header.  Directed by trumpeter Eric Siereveld, the LJE focuses on music of the Latin American jazz diaspora, with an emphasis on the rhythmic traditions of Cuba.  Under the direction of Johannes Wallmann, the Blue Note Ensemble is focusing this semester on the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.  5:00 PM, Tandem Press, 1743 Commercial Avenue (in the shadow of the Oscar Mayer plant on Madison’s East Side).
