July 19th was a beautiful night of live music on Madison’s near-west side. Strollin’ Monroe St featured six venues including Madison Public Library-Monroe St Branch, Monroe St Commons, Baci, Brasserie V, Brocach and HotelRed. This Strollin’ event showcased over 45 performers. Through funding raised by The Greater Madison Jazz Consortium, partnerships with participating venues, support from the Monroe St Business Association, and audience donations all the participating musicians were paid a fair wage for each performance. The event featured an eclectic range of jazz from straight-ahead to Brazilian pagode to original jazz compositions to spoken word poetry. Monroe St turned out to be a perfect fit for the Strollin’ series and the weather that night couldn’t have been nicer. The Greater Madison Jazz Consortium is currently raising funds for three more Strollin’ events in 2015. Please see our donation page to help make Strollin’ 2015 even better!
