Gary Alderman has hosted Journeys Into Jazz on WORT FM for more than 35 years. He is a Jazz historian, collector of rare Jazz LPs, and dogged supporter of Jazz music in Madison, having volunteered countless hours to supporting and promoting Madison Jazz musicians for decades. As Gary battles cancer, The Neophonic Jazz Orchestra is proud to dedicate this performance to him and asks that his friends and colleagues join us (and him) at Babes that Sunday (7/15, 4:30-7:30pm) to honor and support him.”
The Neophonic Jazz Orchestra is Madison, Wisconsin’s premier 24-piece large ensemble dedicated to the preservation of the bold, bygone era of band leader Stan Kenton and composer Johnny Richards. Directed by Kenton alumnus Joel Kaye, The Neophonic has provided a vintage flair to dances, stage shows, music festivals, weddings and corporate events since 2010.
The Neophonic Jazz Orchestra (formerly known as the Madison Mellophonium Jazz Orchestra) features many of the Madison area’s finest Jazz musicians including co-founder and drummer Rand Moore, Vocalist Angela Babler and a who’s who of Madison’s top large-group Jazz instrumentalists.
