On June 6th we lost one of the most cherished icons of American music with the loss of Malcolm John Rebennack Jr aka Dr. John. After hearing of his passing, many of Madison’s finest musicians came out of the woodwork to pull together an all start tribute to his legacy and the music of New Orleans, starring Madison’s own Johnny Chimes. The night will feature Johnny and a slew of Madison special guests from bands like the Jimmy, Phat Phunktion, Mama Digdown’s and more, including LaCouir D. Yancey on bass, Al Falaschi on drums, MR. Mel Ford on guitar, David L. Stoler on keys, Darren Sterud on trombone, Nicholas Bartell on sax, Tony Barba on sax,…..and some other cool cats that may swing by. All to benefit the American Heart Association, as we lost Dr. John to a sudden heart attack. It’ll be such a night as we join to celebrate the late great Dr. John!
