My Music: The Big Band Years (television)

12/11: MY MUSIC: THE BIG BAND YEARS (Television).  Nick Clooney and Peter Marshall co-host this nostalgic look at big band hit makers and songs of the 1930s and 1940s.  The program features vintage live, rare, and unreleased footage from the Big Band era, including clips from bands led by Duke Ellington, Charlie Barnet, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway, Stan Kenton, Tommy Dorsey, and Harry James (amidst clips from “sweet” bands of the era) as well as vocalists Helen O’Connell, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, and Helen Forrest (among other “crooners and canaries”). 7:30 PM, PBS-Wisconsin (aka Wisconsin Public TV).
