12/11: MARS WILLIAMS: AN ALBERT AYLER CHRISTMAS. Grammy nominated Mars Williams is an open-minded musician, composer and educator who commutes easily between free jazz, funk, hip-hop and rock. Williams will be paying tribute to famed 60’s saxophonist Albert Ayler. The Chicago-based band will include: Mars Williams, sax/ suona/toy instruments; Josh Berman, cornet; Jim Baker, piano/ viola/arp synth; Kent Kessler, bass; Brian Sandstrom, bass/guitar/trumpet; Steve Hunt, drums and Peter Maunu, guitar, violin.
