Leslie Damaso

LESLIE DAMASO.  Filipino American singer, artist and writer, Leslie Damaso, along with Madison based Jason Kutz, Mike Koszewski and Ben Ferris (also known as Mr. Chair), will perform an evening of traditional Filipino kundiman songs like you’ve never heard before: classically trained musicians, a jazz quartet, violin and kulintang gongs along with art and a story about a mermaid who falls in love with the moon. Their soon to be released album, SIRENA, blends a personal story, family secrets, a mythic love triangle ending in the beginning of a nation, the displacement of its people, an individual’s perspective of belonging and a spectacular celebration of community.  Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Ave.  7pm.  Free event.
