1/20:  EVENT HORIZON JAZZ QUARTET.  Event Horizon performs a multifarious selection of original music composed by Jim Kaczmarek and Scott Mertens. The band seasons their sets with a unique take on material written by artists such as Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Thelonious Monk, Cedar Walton, Pharrell Williams along with some jazz standards.  The quartet includes Scott Mertens, piano; Jim Kaczmarek, sax; Rick Vitek, drums with a fourth player TBA.  North Street Cabaret, 610 North St.  8pm.  Tickets $15.
