Celebration Event with Juan de Marcos, Kurtis Blow, Etc.

The culminating event in this UW Arts Institute residency features student performances that highlight Juan de Marcos’ teaching throughout the semester.  Three students from his “Music Production: Afro-Cuban and Hip Hop Music” course will present original material, and the UW Jazz Orchestra, Latin Jazz Ensemble and World Percussion Ensemble will perform musical compositions written by Juan de Marcos.  And as if this weren’t enough, legendary hip hop artist Kurtis Blow will make a special guest appearance, and the top three finalists from the “Madison’s Schools Got Talent” competition will perform as well.  Special thanks to Willie Ney, Executive Director of the UW Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives, for seizing the chance to bring Juan de Marcos to our community and for his always- bold and imaginative programming that has permeated this memorable residency.  Also streamed live at go.wisc.edu/juandemarcosvideos.
