Arts+Literature Laboratory brings this dynamic trio to Madison in support of their new album Platinum on Tap, released on the Intakt label. The Chicago Reader describes the trio’s music as “seamlessly connect[ing] their abiding love and respect for jazz tradition with an inherent interest in pushing the music forward.”
Chris Speed is a composer, clarinetist, and saxophonist that the New York Times calls “one of the principal figures in a dynamic left-of-center jazz/improv scene.” He leads or co-leads a multitude of groups including Pachora, Human Feel, and Endangered Blood. Drummer/composer Dave King is perhaps best known as a founding member of the Bad Plus, and he has also recorded or performed with musicians such as Joe Lovano, Jason Moran, and Bill Frisell. Chris Tordini is an established bassist on the New York jazz scene, collaborating with such artists as Tyshawn Sorey and Michael Dessen.
