Madison Music Collective wraps up its stellar “Jazz on a Sunday” Winter-Spring season by presenting a high-energy trio led by Chicago-based guitarist John Moulder, with organist and fellow Chicagoan Vijay Tellis-Nayak and Lawrence University Professor Dane Richeson on percussion. Mr. Moulder has been a member of drummer Paul Wertico’s trio for the past 15 years, and has performed with the likes of Gary Burton, Eddie Harris, Kurt Elling, Bob Mintzer and Jackie Allen. His latest recording, “Earthborn Tales of Soul and Spirit,” was recently featured in the Jazz Institute of Chicago’s “Made in Chicago” concert series in Millennium Park. Mr. Tellis-Nayak is a regular on the vibrant Chicago jazz scene, appearing often at the legendary Green Mill and Jazz Showcase clubs, and has performed with Randy Brecker, Howard Levy, and Jennifer Hudson. Former Madisonian Richeson is a long-time local favorite, having performed here on many occasions since leaving for Lawrence. A student of all percussion styles, he has lived and immersed himself in three distinctly different cultures: Ghana, Cuba, and Brazil. This concert will include a Q&A with the trio. 3:00 PM, Brink Lounge. Discounted advance tickets are available at https://www.thebrinklounge.com/event/john-moulder-organ-trio/?instance_id=7082.
